Hi, FINALY I managed to do this!
My name is Sunniva and i'm from Norway. I took my bachelor degree in Landscape planning with landscape architecture in Sogndal, Sogn og fjordane, including a semester in Holland through the exchange program Erasmus.
The program in Sogndal was lacking landscape- and urban design, so I went to Holland for one semester. There, I got to see things from a totally different point of view in terms of landscape- and urban planning. The water- and space problems that they face (already) in terms of climate change was greatly incorporated in their way of thinking and planning. And was also a theme that we worked a lot with. I found the semester incredibly useful and inspiring , and I realized that that landscape and urban design is what I want to work with- hence, I’m here! And I’m really looking forward to do this master program!
This summer I worked in the municipality of Haugesund, (my home town) were I worked on a project for a new sports arena in Haugesund, “Idrettsparken I Haugesund”. The municipality is planning a sports arena combined with a park and a recreational area.
It was a very good experience, and I found it especially interesting to work and see the planning process from the inside, and have to consider the technical, practical and economic reality of it. Well, that’s really all the work experience I have relevant to my education J
On my free time I like to hang out with friends, go out, have some good food and drinks and so on. I also do a bit of scuba diving and I love to travel!
The project area is located in the municipality of Utrecht in Nieuwkoop, Holland. The area is influenced by manly three factors; on the one hand the urban influence of the city of Nieuwkoop on the northeast side, the nature reserve on the southwest, and the surrounding water. Because of early peat digging in the area, the groundwater was diminished and the island character typical for this area originated into a lake.
The sight had been a former camping area, and the soil was contaminated. The municipality of Utrecht wanted us to suggest a plan for building 100 houses, in three different typologies on these islands and combining it with the nature reserve and recreation, as well as locations for the local rowing club, scouts and so on.
