All Streets is a mapping precedent, created by a fella called Ben Fry, which I stumbled across in The Mapping Room - it is an illustration of the USA using streets only. Marvellous!
Very interesting reference, Paul! Beautiful graphics, and very useful in understanding how mapping always implies a representational chice and the latter is always extremely intentional. This map draws roads but ultimately represents topography and density of settlements with it. With a different graphic choice it could have chosen to represent other aspects also.. Also for your infrastructural analysis keep in mind that the same raw material, treated with different graphic codes in relation to your different intentions, can produce a variety of very communicative maps.. good luck! and don't hesitate to also post your progressions.
